Cookie Policy

    Last updated: April 7, 2026

    1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Biteon ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at https://biteon.nl(the "Website"). This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.

Non-essential cookies are off until you accept them in our cookie banner or preferences. You can change your mind anytime via Cookie settings in the site footer. You can also control storage through your browser.

    2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

Cookies allow a website to recognize your device and store some information about your preferences or past actions. This enables the website to remember your preferences (such as language) and improve your user experience.

    3. Types of Cookies We Use

    3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, network management, and accessibility. You cannot opt-out of these cookies as the Website will not function without them.

Examples of strictly necessary cookies we use:

    • biteon_session — a first-party, HttpOnly session identifier set by our servers (not readable from JavaScript on the page).
    • Session management cookies to maintain your session while browsing
    • Security cookies to protect against unauthorized access
    • Load balancing cookies to distribute website traffic
    • biteon_cookie_consent — first-party JSON cookie (long-lived) that stores your consent choices (preferences, analytics, marketing) so we can honor them on return visits.

Legal basis: These cookies are necessary for the performance of a contract (delivering the Website to you) and our legitimate interest in ensuring website security and functionality.

    3.2 Performance and Analytics Cookies

When you opt in to Analytics in our preference center, we load Google Analytics 4 using the public measurement ID configured for this site (gtag.js; the same dataLayer mechanism is used by Google's tag). We do not load GA4 before you grant analytics consent. Consent choices are stored in biteon_cookie_consent as JSON (e.g. which of preferences, analytics, and marketing you allow).

These cookies collect information about how visitors use our Website, such as which pages are visited most often and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don't collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and anonymous. We use this information to improve how the Website works.

Legal basis: Your consent when you enable Analytics (GDPR/UK GDPR/ePrivacy).

    3.3 Functionality / preference cookies

When you opt in to Preferences, we may use cookies or similar storage to remember choices that improve your experience (for example language or interface preferences). If you leave this off, we limit non-essential preference storage accordingly.

Legal basis: Your consent when you enable Preferences.

    3.4 Marketing/Targeting Cookies

The preference center includes a Marketing switch so we can align with Google Consent Mode for advertising-related storage if we add tags later. We do not load live marketing or advertising pixels on the site today. If that changes, we will update this policy and rely on your saved choice.

    4. Third-Party Services and Cookies

Some features load scripts or receive data through third-party services:

    • Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise on the contact form (fraud prevention). Google may process technical data when the widget runs. This is separate from analytics cookies and is used to protect the form.
    • EmailJS for delivering contact form messages. EmailJS may use cookies or similar technologies per their documentation.
    • Google Analytics 4 only when you opt in to Analytics, as described above.

    5. How Long Do Cookies Stay on My Device?

Cookies can be "session" or "persistent" cookies:

    • Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
    • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

The specific retention period for each cookie depends on its purpose and is detailed in our cookie consent management tool, if applicable.

    6. Your Rights and Choices (GDPR & CCPA)

    6.1 European Union (GDPR) Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

    • Right to be informed: You have the right to be informed about the use of cookies (this policy serves that purpose)
    • Right to consent: You must provide explicit consent for non-essential cookies
    • Right to withdraw consent: You can withdraw your consent at any time
    • Right to access: You have the right to know what cookies are being used
    • Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests

    6.2 California (CCPA/CPRA) Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grant you certain rights:

    • Right to know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect through cookies
    • Right to delete: You can request deletion of personal information collected through cookies
    • Right to opt-out: You can opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
    • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

    7. How to Manage Cookies

    7.1 Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. However, limiting cookies may impact your ability to use the Website. You can set your browser to:

    • Block all cookies
    • Allow only first-party cookies
    • Delete cookies when you close your browser
    • Notify you when cookies are set

Here are links to cookie management pages for popular browsers:

    7.2 Mobile Devices

You can also manage cookies on your mobile device through your device's browser settings. The process varies by device and browser.

    7.3 Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers incorporate a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Currently, there is no industry standard for responding to DNT signals. We do not currently respond to DNT signals.

    8. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our data practices. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
